An all-Hispanic cast headlines the new production of Cell, an Immigration Story. Sonia Marques is Marta, Letti Valle is Jenny, Viviana Rafalowski plays Rosa and Juan Reyes is Leon. This powerful play, written by Cassandra Medley, returns in a new form to the Adult Center where it was first performed by ACT to popular acclaim in the summer of 2018.

CELL follows the lives of three women guards and a male supervisor at a detention center at the US Mexican border.

Following each performance a community Talk-Back will encourage audience members to ask questions and share their own stories, thoughts and concerns with the cast and playwright. The Talk-Back will be facilitated by members of the Gorge Ecumenical Ministry.

CELL has received national recognition and was included in the publication of Best American Plays, 2012-12. PRX, affiliated with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, broadcast CELL on its program, Playing on Air. Currently, an off-Broadway production is being planned.

Cassandra Medley will be present for the performances. She gave permission for a translation into an Hispanic idiom, and to make any script changes necessary. She also is donating the usual royalty charges.

Performance will be in both Spanish and English, with both versions also being broadcast on Radio Tierra.
